Weeping With The Willows

Coral reefs and canyons deep with mountains, oh so tall
Underneath this water where the surface seems so calm
But someone brought their boat along and made the current rough
Throwing out their empty cans, their trash, and other stuff

Ecosystems suffer from their careless, thoughtless play
Human hearts are much the same; they bend until they break
When careless words fly out like trash, the surface may stay calm
But underneath, in canyons deep, the heart is not so strong ... so

Here am I with crying eyes... that gaze out at the night
Watching as the breeze blows by... and brings the trees to life
The maples move, the dogwoods dance... as leaves float by the pines
The willows wave, but, yet they weep... and with them, so do I

The wind it often makes us dance without a song or sound
But sometimes wind can push too hard and knocks us to the ground
And words like wind can sing a song that makes the spirit fly
But sometimes they can cut like daggers, causing us to die ... so

Here am I with crying eyes... that gaze out at the night
Watching as the breeze blows by... and brings the trees to life
The maples move, the dogwoods dance... as leaves float by the pines
The willows wave, but, yet they weep... and with them, so do I

Crying isn't always due to heartbreak, harm, or hate
Sometimes souls are washed in wonder, weeping in the waves
Love that's Real is teaching that forgiveness is the way
So diving into Mercy's madness, all that I can say ... is

Here am I with crying eyes... that gaze out at the night
Watching as the breeze blows by... and brings the trees to life
The maples move, the dogwoods dance... as leaves float by the pines
The willows wave, but, yet they weep... and with them, so do I

Weeping with the willows…
